See if you qualify for a one time cash payment in order to keep safe housing, prevent an eviction, or pay for utilities. There are guidelines, be sure to inquire. There are several programs available such as State Family Assistance (SFA) Temprary assistance for needy families (TANF) or refugee cash assistance (RCA) and have an emergency need for paying bills or rent.

Rural Resources Community Action

The Families with Children Program, and The Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Programs help families in need of rental assistance.
- Families with Children provide cash and rental assistance to homeless or near homeless people, or families facing eviction. The aid is for families with minor children in the household. Qualified low income families can get one time assistance to pay rent (current or back) or a deposit within a two-year period.
- Homeless prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program offers temporary rental assistance to those with no other options.
-Foundational Community Supports, Supportive Housing provides targeted case management for clients experiencing issues either obtaining or maintining housing and qualify for the service by having issues with substance abuse, mental health disorders, or chronic illness. Case management addresses both housing and other social supports to assist long term housing stability.

Child care advocates help childen who are victims of sexual violence, physical abuse, or neglect. Visit the 24 hour helpline answered by advocates, safe shelter options, 24 hour in person response to hospital and clinics to support survivors seeking medical attention or support during appointments. Crisis intervention and ongoing support by trained and caring staff members who listen and help with safety planning, options, and services. Help with court orders so victims can gain legal protection. Advocacy to help victims know thier legal, medical, and financial rights as survivors. Support for non offending caregivers. Information and referral to other services including legal and financial help, counseling, housing, employment, and medical care. Therapy referrals to contracted qualified therapists. Emergency contraceptions, condoms, and pregnancy tests available for free. Community education on child abuse and neglect.

Commuter Bus is available and offers a fixed route service at 50 cents per one way trip between Kettle Falls, Colville, and Chewelah for morning and late afternoon commuters. (Passes can be purchased at the Rural Resources main office in $20 denominations for 40 trips)

Colville, Davenport, Inchelium, Republic and Chewelah Washington
Victim Services Program Needs Volunteers! Make a difference and help strengthen our communities and be a leader. Help support survivors.
Rural Resources provides all necessary training and education to volunteers. As a new volunteer, you will join a community of supportive people that all have the same goal: supporting survivors, giving hope, and preventing violence.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Helpline Volunteers – Take shifts on our 24-hour help line from the comfort of your own home. Provide support, crisis intervention and referrals to callers.
  • Office/Clerical Support – Assist with clerical projects in the office, and provide coverage at the front desk.
  • Childcare Provider – Provide childcare at our office while a parent or caregiver is receiving services at Rural Resources Victim Services.
  • Fundraising – Assist with fundraising projects or events.
  • Community Awareness – Team up with the Community Engagement Department to increase awareness and provide outreach by attending local fairs and events.
