Medical and hospital bill relief fund

The Andrew Willis Memorial Emergency Fund, which is partly supported by the United Way, helps pay for medical expenses and hospital bills for low income and impoverished children. Access free food and groceries

The Food Bank of East Alabama (334-821-9006) works with local charities to get food to where it is needed most. They contribute the distribution of donated and purchased food through qualified agencies and charities such as shelters, soup kitchens, senior programs, emergency food pantries, non-profit agencies and community centers. You can call them to learn where you can pick up your free food from.

Energy bill relief fund

The local community action agency, Alabama Council on Human Relations, Inc., administers several services and programs for people in need of help. The programs include a wide range of helping programs such as Energy Assistance and Emergency Crisis Intervention. The agency helps people in Auburn and Lee County, Alabama.

 

Health, dental, and dental care

Two different non-profit organizations to stop by at for either medical care, or to get additional information, include Mercy Medical Clinic for Family Care ((334) 501-1081) as well as Medicaid Agency (phone number (334) 502-5446). A combination of free and/or sliding fee services are available to income qualified Lee County families.

• Mercy Medical Clinic for Family Care - This clinic provides medical help to low income patients who do not have health insurance. Medical professionals, nurses, and doctors provide family medical and dental care for residents of Lee County Alabama.
   
• Medicaid Agency - The program provides referrals and information on Alabama and federal government programs. Get information and referral/ ambulance service where medically necessary for Medicaid eligible patients across the area.

Family Health Clinic - Provides free Medicare health screenings for the low income and uninsured. Emergency financial assistance in Lee County Alabama

If you are facing a short term crisis, and need emergency help, the Auburn Salvation Army (phone number (334) 826-0073) provides emergency assistance. This agency offers emergency assistance, including clothes, food, utility help, and medical bill help, to the less fortunate of Lee County who are facing a hardship or a dire circumstance. Salvation Army centers are also in Opelika Alabama. This offers many of the same resources as the site above. Another focus is on providing case management, employment assistance, and help for seniors. The center wants to help people overcome poverty. Auburn United Methodist Church – This center administers financial assistance programs to persons in Lee County Alabama who are experiencing a financial hardship or crisis and are temporarily unable to provide for their families or themselves. Area Agency on Aging of Lee County – Provides assistance programs and services to seniors and persons 60 and older. Some of what is offered includes food and home delivered meals. Free or low cost legal aid is offered, as well as Medicaid Waivers. Auburn Housing Network offers a number of housing, mortgage, and rent programs. They have information on both private and government funded resources. The location also serves as a non-profit network referral for housing repair for working poor and low income persons living in the City of Auburn.

Some of the services provided include Housing Rehab Program, such as minor repairs. This is more emergency aid for a property that is unsafe to live in. Mortgage and/or utility bill assistance is limited and may be offered on a case by case basis to qualified families. Shelter and Rental Assistance from Lee County Alabama Council on Human Relations – In addition to the utility bill help indicated above, the center can help residents who face health threatening emergencies including lack of medication, housing, or food. Rental/housing assistance may also be offered for people facing eviction from their home or apartment. The non-profit will help pay up to one month's rent, mortgage for qualified people. The community action Alabama Council on Human Relations, or ACHR, provides several programs for the less fortunate. They range from housing, free food, child care assistance, to job training and funds for paying utility bills. The organization is a leading non-profit agency for the entire Lee County Alabama region.

 

 The center is a HUD approved housing counseling agency, so they can provide information on mortgage assistance and rental programs. While in some cases a short term loan may be issued for paying rent or a security deposit, in most cases the support is provided in the form of referrals. Qualified clients can also learn about LIHEAP utility programs or free energy conservation measures.

City Of Opelika - The intention of the Opelika Share program is to assist qualified

City Of Auburn – May have emergency rent, co

disabled and elderly individuals facing financial challenges with payment on their Opelika Light and Power bill. Opelika Share will not make payments on non-active (disconnected) accounts, unmetered services or late fees. They may also distribute Prescription Drug Discount Cards.
